Monica Laskay says she was being prepared for her career in the spa business ever since she was a little girl growing up in Colombia in a family with six siblings.

“We would tickle and massage each other’s shoulders, and then receive the same in return. It was our family’s way of bonding and nurturing each other as we shared about our day in the evenings.”

After she had her two children, she would give them massages to help them relax and just to show her love for them. Fast forward to 1994, when Monica attended several personal growth seminars and got a Masters degree that she says changed her life. Somewhere along the way she realized that she had a gift for making people feel better. Her natural instincts lead her to affirm and encourage people right where they are, helping them see their own beauty.

She also came to realize the healing power of human touch when delivered in a safe, non-threatening, and nurturing way, through massage that relieves stress and restores a person’s sense of wellbeing.

At the request of her friends and acquaintances, she started driving around to people’s houses, giving lipodissolve therapies, weight loss and detox protocols.. She also apprenticed with professionals in the spa business to learn first-hand about the inside secrets of the spa industry. Over time, this grew into an actual business, though she still had no formal office space. All the while, she was developing her own protocols even as she worked to refine her services based on customer feedback.

Her organically grown mobile spa business slowly evolved, by popular request, into her first retail space in Malibu, California in March 2011, after clients asked if they could come to her place, instead of the other way around. All advertising was solely by word of mouth, from satisfied customers who spread the word. She added spa services as customers requested them, making a foray into cutting-edge skin-care treatments that were all the rage in California.

Her spa that started in 2011 with just two rooms soon expanded into what are now nine rooms with a permanent staff of eleven people and many more on call. In 2012, Angelina magazine rated it the ‘best kept secret in Malibu!”, and Groupon rated it the best spa in Malibu.

Success has propelled her forward to the East coast in 2014, where she seeks to bring a little Malibu into the heart of everything she does. Today people around the globe have entrusted her and her  wealth of knowledge and experience in a business that believes that we as individuals have the capacity to heal, restore and regenerate ourselves, in the tradition and standards of excellence that have already been established in the original Beautiful Me of Malibu.

Her hope is that people will come and see for themselves what all the fuss is about, and leave with a smile on their face and a song in their heart –

“I am beautiful – Beautiful Me!”
